Exeter Pet Sitters have been walking dogs for over three years, and in that time we have gained a great deal of experience. Our core four pet sitters walk dogs of all shapes and sizes five days a week, in groups of 4-5 dogs. With this number it is imperative that the walker assumes the role of the 'leader', and the dogs accept and respect this. The walker must decide if there is a risk, and take action; its not the dogs job to do this. Its a great joy and privilege to gain the dogs respect in this way, and watch the pack as they explore, socialise, and exercise together.
Our sitters have attended courses with USA based Cesar Milan, and UK based courses with John Rogerson. Exeter Pet Sitters has a commitment to continuous learning, and we are always looking to improve dog welfare. We have worked with many rescue dogs, and many 'problem' dogs who initially could not join the group walk due to issues, are now happy members of the pack. Examples of this are a cockapoo who was protective of his owners and so aggressive towards other dogs on the walk, a boxer who was dog aggressive, and a young labrador whose recall was not good enough to join a group walk. Having spent time with the owners, all these dogs are now happy members of a group walk.
We promote positive reinforcement, and reward based training. We are happy to work with you on a variety of issues. Our prices are reasonable, and our main aim is to make you and your dogs lives better.
New for 2012, we introduce our 'walk and train' service, where we will take you and your dog on a pack walk together with our own dogs. This service is £25 per hour during the week, and £30 at weekends.
We are happy to implement any training within the pet care services your pet receives.

‘When out walking with our Retriever, our young rescue terrier-cross deters other dogs from approaching by rushing at them with teeth bared. This has naturally made dogs and their walkers nervous and has been a source of stress for us. We called for Jayne's help and with her knowledge and reassurance, suggested one or two things that we could do. Jayne's drip-feed rather than deluge approach encouraged us to try one technique at a time. The 'miracle cure' has been to distract Raf with a squeaky toy whenever another dog approaches. This has worked like a dream and we are now confident that we can always prevent his old behaviour through use of this technique. The additional bonus is that it is very hard for any animal to look agressive with pink squeaky pig toy in his mouth!’
